The psychiatric nurse contributes to the implementation of specialty patient care in collaboration with Lifeway House care team members and ensures that patients receive coordinated, specialized care of highest standard.
· Carry out patients’ mental health assessments and ensure documentation of the same, while maintaining communication of findings with other team members
· Patient management:
o Ensure clients are appropriately and promptly medically managed and stabilized, especially in emergency situations, according to individual needs
o Intake of new patients and initiation of admission protocol, as necessary
o Constant monitoring of patient care as per standard nursing practices
o Ensure patients abide by institution’s regulations, including house norms and timetable management, while considering individual patients’ traits and personalities and amicable handling of challenges
o Ensure constant communication with other team members in various departments for effective workflow
· Maintain and update daily patient treatment records and documentation on patients’ health conditions
· Continuous observation of client’s medical progress and facilitation of interventions with the psychiatrist as needed
· Facilitate coordinated and constant communication with physicians on patients’ progress
· Provide appropriate health education to patients throughout their treatment process
· Work together with the counselling department, including continuous progress updates and case conferences
· Completing other tasks within the scope of registered nurses and Lifeway House program services and procedures.
· At least two years working experience in a facility specializing in mental health and/or addictions treatment
· Qualification in Mental Health/Psychiatry Nursing and Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya
· Valid and current Nursing Practice License from Nursing Council of Kenya
